As a leading indicator for the NSE Nifty, the SGX Nifty is pointing higher for stocks in India on Tuesday. On Monday, stocks in India gained. The NSE Nifty was higher, closing at 8467.90 for a gain of 144.70 points or 1.74 percent. The BSE Sensex was also higher, closing at 27626.69 for a gain of 499.79 points or 1.84 percent.

All sectors were higher Monday with auto, banking and healthcare leading gains. The S&P BSE Auto Index was higher at 20139.96 for a gain of 431.12 points. The S&P BSE Bankex Index was higher at 21061.25 for a gain of 426.79 points. The S&P BSE Healthcare Index was higher at 16261.32 for a gain of 221.48 points. Stocks leading gains for the day included Bank of India, ICICI Bank Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Tata Motors Ltd.

In other Asian markets, stocks were also higher on Monday. China’s Shanghai Composite was higher at 2994.92 for a gain of 6.82 points or 0.23 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was higher at 20880.50 for a gain of 316.33 points or 1.54 percent. Japan’s Nikkei was higher at 15708.82 for a gain of 601.84 points or 3.98 percent.

In Europe, stocks were also higher on Monday. The Stoxx Europe 600 was higher at 332.72 for a gain of 5.37 points or 1.64 percent. The Stoxx Europe 50 was higher at 2831.51 for a gain of 34.70 points or 1.24 percent. France’s CAC 40 was higher at 4264.53 for a gain of 73.85 points or 1.76 percent. Germany’s DAX was higher at 9833.41 for a gain of 203.75 points or 2.12 percent. The FTSE 100 was higher at 6682.86 for a gain of 92.22 points or 1.40 percent. The FTSE 250 was higher at 16706.39 for a gain of 528.64 points or 3.27 percent.

In the U.S., the leading indexes were also higher Monday. For the day the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 18226.93 for a gain of 80.19 points or 0.44 percent. The S&P 500 was also higher, closing at 2137.16 for a gain of 7.26 points or 0.34 percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed higher at 4988.64 for a gain of 31.88 points or 0.64 percent.

Other notable indexes closes in the U.S. included the small-cap Russell 2000, closing at 1190.03 for a gain of 12.67 points or 1.08 percent; the S&P 600 closing at 730.53 for a gain of 8.13 points or 1.13 percent; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closing at 1529.13 for a gain of 8.71 points or 0.57 percent; the Russell 3000 Index closing at 1261.19 for a gain of 5.22 points or 0.42 percent; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closing at 618.66 for a gain of 2.86 points or 0.46 percent.
