SGX Nifty December 2025 futures declined by 22.50 points, suggesting a bearish opening for the Nifty 50 today.

Institutional Flows:

On 29 December 2025, provisional data indicated that foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) divested shares amounting to Rs 2,759.89 crore, whereas domestic institutional investors (DIIs) emerged as net buyers, acquiring shares worth Rs 2,643.85 crore in the Indian equity market.

In December, foreign institutional investors have divested shares totaling Rs 26,908.22 crore to date. This follows their cash sales of Rs 17,500.31 crore in November and Rs 2,346.89 crore in October.

Global Markets:

Asia markets experienced a decline on Tuesday, as the tech sell-off on Wall Street persisted amid concerns over the AI bubble. Market participants will be closely monitoring China’s military exercises near Taiwan, following the announcement of new drills by the world’s second-largest economy on Monday.

Overnight in the U.S., stocks declined on Monday, driven by losses in the technology sector, following the S&P 500 reaching record highs last week. The S&P 500 experienced a decline of 0.35%, concluding the session at 6,905.74, whereas the Nasdaq Composite fell by 0.50%, finishing at 23,474.35. The Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a decline of 249.04 points, representing a decrease of 0.51%, concluding the session at 48,461.93.

Meanwhile, silver experienced a decline of over 6% after hitting $80 per ounce for the first time ever overnight. This occurs as the precious metal has experienced a significant increase in 2025, rising nearly 150% to establish itself as one of the year’s most sought-after trades.

Domestic Market:

Domestic equity benchmarks experienced a decline on Monday, as the Sensex and Nifty relinquished their initial gains due to subdued year-end trading volumes and ongoing foreign fund outflows that dampened risk appetite.

Investors maintained a cautious stance in anticipation of the forthcoming Q3 corporate earnings season. The Nifty closed beneath the 25,950 level, having reached an intraday peak of 26,106.80, impacted by declines in consumer durables and IT sectors.

The S&P BSE Sensex experienced a decrease of 345.91 points, reflecting a decline of 0.41%, closing at 84,695.54. The Nifty 50 index experienced a decline of 100.20 points, representing a decrease of 0.38%, closing at 25,942.10.
