In opening market trading Tuesday, the SGX Nifty is lower by 10 points which is in trend with what is happening in other Asian markets. The high resistance level for Tuesday is 8,262.33 and the low support level is 7,992.33.

As a leading indicator for the NSE Nifty, the SGX Nifty is pointing lower for continued losses in Indian stocks. On Monday, stocks in India closed lower. The NSE Nifty closed at 8110.60 for a loss of -59.45 points or -0.73 percent on Monday. The BSE Sensex was lower at 26396.77 with a loss of -238.98 points or -0.90 percent.

All sectors in India were lower Monday except healthcare. Sectors leading losses included banking, auto and capital goods. The S&P BSE Bankex Index was lower at 20162.82 for a loss of -264.08. The S&P BSE Auto Index was lower at 19123.08 for a loss of -185.2 points. The S&P BSE Capital Goods Index was lower at 14532.52 for a loss of -172.74.

Stocks leading losses on Monday included Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and Power Grid Corp. of India.

Overall, stocks in India continue to fall as global issues weigh on valuations. This week the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan will report on monetary policy decisions. On June 23, the U.K. will also vote on an exit from the European Union. All of these factors have stocks trading lower.

In other Asian markets on Monday, China’s Shanghai Composite was lower at 2833.07 for a loss of -94.09 points or -3.21 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was lower at 20512.99 for a loss of -529.65 points or -2.52 percent. Japan’s Nikkei closed at 16019.18 for a loss of -582.18 points or -3.51 percent.

In Europe, market indexes were also lower. The Stoxx Europe 600 was lower at 326.80 for a loss of -6.12 points or -1.84 percent. The Stoxx Europe 50 was lower at 2733.09 for a loss of -52.10 points or -1.87 percent. France’s CAC 40 was lower at 4227.02 for a loss of -79.70 points or -1.85 percent. Germany’s DAX was lower at 9657.44 for a loss of -177.18 points or -1.80 percent. The FTSE 100 was lower at 6044.97 for a loss of -70.79 points or -1.16 percent. The FTSE 250 was lower at 16574.22 for a loss of -253.23 points or -1.50 percent.

In the U.S., the leading indexes were also lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down -132.86 points or -0.74 percent to 17732.48. The S&P 500 was also down, closing at 2079.06 for a loss of -17.01 points or -0.81 percent. The Nasdaq Composite closed lower at 4848.44 for a loss of -46.11 points or -0.94 percent.

Other notable U.S. index closes included the small-cap Russell 2000, closing at 1150.70 for a loss of -13.23 points or -1.14 percent; the S&P 600 closing at 704.30 for a loss of -8.28 points or -1.16 percent; the S&P 400 Mid-Cap Index closing at 1482.32 for a loss of -16.75 points or -1.12 percent; the Russell 3000 closing at 1226.11 for a loss of -10.28 points or -0.83 percent; and the Dow Jones U.S. Select Dividend Index closing at 595.36 for a loss of -4.95 points or -0.82 percent.
