2014 may see a positive start on D-Street

On the first day of new calendar year 2014, the Indian indices are likely to open in the green zone backed by global support. SGX Nifty is also trading 19.00 points higher..

On Tuesday (December 31, 2013) Sensex closed at 21170.68, up by 27.67 points, while the Nifty rose 12.90 points to close at 6304.00.

Global Market

Most Asian markets are closed today on account of New Year holiday.

The US stock market closed at a record high on Tuesday (December 31, 2013), cementing the biggest yearly gain in more than a decade as investors clung to signs the economy is improving.

European shares rose on Tuesday to mark a positive end to 2013, with pan-European indexes posting their best annual gains since 2009 and many investors forecasting more progress next year.
