SGX Nifty December 2025 futures declined by 48 points, suggesting a bearish start for the Nifty 50 today.

Institutional Flows:

On 15 December 2025, provisional data indicated that foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) divested shares amounting to Rs 1,468.32 crore, whereas domestic institutional investors (DIIs) recorded net purchases totaling Rs 1,792.25 crore in the Indian equity market.

Foreign Institutional Investors have divested shares amounting to Rs 21,073.83 crore in December to date. Their cash sales amounted to Rs 17,500.31 crore in November and Rs 2,346.89 crore in October.

Global Markets:

On Tuesday, the Asian market experienced a decline, following the downward trend observed on Wall Street, as investors persisted in shifting away from the artificial intelligence sector in the U.S. The flash purchasing managers index numbers from S&P Global indicate that business activity in Australia experienced a deceleration in December, as the composite PMI decreased to 51.1 from the previous month’s 52.6.

During the overnight session in the U.S., the S&P 500 experienced a decline of 0.16%, despite starting the day in positive territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a slight decline, whereas the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite decreased by 0.59%.

Domestic Market:

The benchmark equity indices ended the day slightly lower on Tuesday, halting a two-session rally as investor risk appetite diminished. Ongoing foreign fund outflows, continued uncertainty regarding a U.S.-India trade agreement, and apprehension about potential repercussions from Mexico’s extensive new import tariffs have negatively impacted sentiment, as the rupee fell to a new record low of 90.80 against the dollar.

The Nifty fell beneath the 26,050 mark, influenced by selling activity in the auto, pharma, and healthcare sectors. The S&P BSE Sensex declined by 54.30 points, representing a decrease of 0.06%, closing at 85,213.36. The Nifty 50 index declined by 19.65 points, representing a decrease of 0.08%, closing at 26,027.30. Over the last two trading sessions, the Sensex experienced an increase of 1.03%, whereas the Nifty saw a gain of 1.12%.
